The whole focus is on his personality, and in particular his stillness. That Is not a lye or overstatement, that is the truth. Rabbit wins both of the first two rounds with progressively more impressive freestyle raps. The rapping happens because it must happen to these characters at this time, not because Eminem is a rapper. I'm currently compiling a list of the best films of 2002 and 8 Mile is somewhere in the middle.
Independent Berkeley Students Publishing Company, Inc. So I am going to end this right here and right now. It's a film as I've seen it over the years has gotten better. A farming community in the middle of nowhere, where my nearest neighbors where half a mile away. This movie, based on his life, the start of his career, is brilliant!.
There are some scenes that leave you scratching your head. What positive values does Eminem's character begin to put into practice as a way to rise above difficult surroundings and dire situations? It seems that she flip flops around so much that in the end you really don't know which side she truly plays. At first, he considers himself a victim of his circumstances and blames others for his problems. With his onstage choke still fresh in his mind, he appears to decide that he will give up on or postpone his dream of a music career in favor of devoting more time to his day job and building a home life. As for the plot, don't go into the movie thinking that you're going to see the life of Eminem. He has some setbacks but ultimately triumphs. The film is detailed, finely crafted, and has a pounding heart the size of a boxcar. The telling is what does it the best I think. Really glad to hear you like 8 Mile and this scene as much as I do. A whole audience entertained by drama and acting and not one special effect! Confidential,it is easily on a par with his last film,Wonder Boys. Mekhi Phifer plays Future, Rabbit's best ally and, in some ways, his father figure; playing the role of the protective, guidance providing, loving role-model. Kim Basinger plays his alcoholic mother, miserable and bitter of where her life has ended up in a trailer park, barely able to make rent or take care of herself. Watch the movie, enjoy the battle scenes, decide its nothing great, but then give it some thought, you'll see what I see. The leader of the gang, Papa Doc, holds Jimmy at gunpoint, threatening to kill him before being dissuaded by Wink. Rabbit refuses, claiming he has to get back to work.
All in all, the thing that really defines 8 Mile is how committed to this idea the cast and crew must have been in order to make this film. Aspiring to become a filmmaker when everyone tells you you're an idiot for even thinking of it isn't easy. Jimmy's best friend and battle host, Future, pushes him to get revenge by competing against the Leaders of the Free World at the next rap battle. Eminem plays the part of a white rapper called Jimmy Smith Jr. Rabbit's home life is not much better. Anyway, still an intriguing film. I wonder if there were more scenes involving Manning that were ultimately deleted via editing. And hey, even if it did, it'd be one helluva story. That's my opinion anyways, and a lot of others too.
As Rabbit and his friends drive around Detroit, one of his friends brings a paintball gun, and they take turns shooting it at people and buildings, culminating in Rabbit shooting it at a police car. Along it came, and you know what? It has B-Rabbit taking control of everything. He later catches this woman having sex with one of his friends in a radio station studio. Anyone who doesn't recognize this is someone that I would generally think was lucky enough to not be born into this type of community structure with ideals that conflicted with the generally accepted norm; as it's thoroughly developed throughout the story. He is close to his mates and they're always touching hands and gently hugging each other. However, when Southpaw was eventually made in 2015, Antoine Fuqua was brought on as director and Jake Gullenhall, not Eminem, took the lead role. Occasionally we get a beat of a song but it isn't wall to wall music like many rapper's films.
